Description British War Medal, Gloucestershire Hussars – Killed in Action, East Africa. British War Medal, 194844 Spr . D.A. Hughes. R.E. David Archibald Hughes was the son of John Rosser Hughes of King Edwards Road, Swansea. Born about 1886. Later lived in Gloucester His MIC shows his entitlement to a pair for WW1 service, also serving in the Gloucestershire Hussars (service no 1629) Enlisted 1st April 1908. Posted to East Africa 29th April 1917 He was reported as missing on the 24th September 1917 (Noted as Killed in Action) whilst serving in the Imperial Signal Company, Royal Engineers. He is commemorated at the Dar es Salaam Memorial. Good set of paperwork. Condition – NEF
